Rachel Miller thought her next job was a run-of-the-mill haunting. As a member of the Order of Rescue Mediums it's her duty to release trapped spirits from the earthly realm. But when called to client Sylvia Elkeles's house, she finds a wraith who doesn't act like he should.
The Order considers the wraith an extreme threat and Rachel may be forced to use a barbaric ritual to free him—a ritual that comes with a heavy personal price. If she fails to humanely release the wraith, she'll have her supernatural abilities bound.
When Janus Ostara—local supernatural mob boss—shows up demanding her attention, and Sylvia keeps secrets that may place Rachel in mortal danger, she doesn't need her abilities to know something darkly sinister is at play.
Between uncovering Sylvia's disturbing motives, and avoiding Janus, Rachel has enough on her hands without dealing with a wraith who may not realize he's supposed to be dead...

Back Cover
Dear Reader,
Gracious me, my beautiful daughter Rocky sure could use my help. I always knew she wasn't much interested in the local boys - but who'd have thought she'd come home with English royalty?
Trouble is, Hugh wants to buy some of our folks' land. We don't want to sell, but Rocky's job depends on her closing the deal. And though Hugh's obviously smitten, I'm not sure he's right for my Rocky. Oh, he's classy and handsome - and you should've seen the way he judged pies and fixed stock cars at our Watermelon Festival! - but what do we know about him, really? I know I sound like a nervous mother hen, but after forty happy years with my Elbert, all I want is to see my little girl find the same.
Well, time for me to quit chattering and get back to Miss Bray's wet set. Always nice talking to you, and remember: the Cut 'n Curl's got hot rollers, free coffee, and the best gossip in town.
See you real soon,

My Review
Nix is half demon/half human working at a goverment agency in the supernatural division. One day while working she see her former boyfriend Tobias. She remember how he ran off and left her five years ago and desparately tries to control his temper. He also tried to avoid seeing her. But eventually tempatation got the best of both of them.
I received a advance copy of this book that I enjoyed. It was plotted nicely and different from other vampire novels. I adored both the science fiction and supernatural aspect. I also love how the author describe her characters, which makes you want to know more about them. Not to mention, there is a hot pulsing love scence. But,= it wasnt just about romance, although I admit I wish I could have more romance. I felt it was put on the back burner but I do love the action the book is packing. Also the is the first book to the author "Warriors of the Rift series." So I am waiting to see how the character develop from this point.

Sobek is walking along the beach of Nile River and sees one of his abandon temples. He heard a woman singing and followed the voice which led to Merys. Merys was startle by Bek at first, but later found herself wanting to know Sobek. Merys told him about her life as her family servant and how her family wouldnt give her any dowry.
Every chance Sobek had he would still away to see Merys. However, seeing a mortal a woman is against the law, he still takes his chances to be with Merys. Merys is also risks being caught, by her family. He tries to stay away from her but only find hisself longing to be with her.
I found this book to be a nice late night read. This book is nicely written and I like the storyline that the Veronica Scott have plotted.I think she did very well describing her characters. Though, I wish the story could have been a lit longer, because it wouldve been better. If you looking for a quick read with contains adult content, mythology, Egyptian culture, and paranormal romance its a nice story.

Staying strong in her Christian religion is all Wilda agreed to go. While working she sees Einar and they both become bewildered. He couldn't believe it was the girl who rescued him from a deadly fate. Wilda couldn't believe herself that it was Einar the young heathen boy.
This story is very beautifully written. This is so much then a typical romance story where the hero always show up to save the lady and whisk onto her feet into a happily ever after. It have a very deepen and heartfelt storyline. Especially how much they both are willing to sacrifice and endure just to keep each other safe
